What is a News Item?

There is a content type within drupal called News. You can create a News Item and then have that item display within news feeds across your site. There is a news page where all items can be displayed and searched through. You can also view news items within news feeds, which can be added to any page on the site. News items can be categorized as well.

How to create a News Item

To create a news item, go to Add Content, then you will see a list of content types, click on News. From there, you will be able to make a news item. You can add a title for the news item, a news summary which is a short description of what the news item is that will display in the news feed before you click through to see the full article/item, and then there's the news body which is where you will enter all of the content of your news article. On this page you will also enter the news date and time that it is published, and then select the news categories that it applies to. News items should always have all selected and from there you can add it into other categories that you can create. Learn more about categories below.

How to add a News Feed

To add a news feed to a page, go to the page you would like the news feed to be located on. Click Edit. This will take you to the editor. You will need to decide where on your page you would like the news feed to be located. To learn more about rows and paragraphs, click here. Once you know which row you would like the news feed to be added to, click Add News Feed. You will then be able to choose what category you would like filtered, or what category of news you would like to be shown where it says News Category Feed. You can either choose all news, or one of the categories you set up as a news filter. To learn more about news filters and categories, continue reading below. after choosing the news category feed, save your page, and you will now see that the news feed is now on your page displaying the news category you selected.
